something happened on my way home from sun plaza today. made me realise how unfeeling and insensitive ppl have become these days..
was walking home from sbw station ard 7pm,
when a man on a bicycle fell suddenly.
he was lying on the ground. no blood. no movements.
still.
the bicycle was still btw his legs. yet he didn move.
but his eyes were opened.
3 ppl stopped in their tracks to help.
while the rest walked on.
like there wasnt any man who fell.
many passed by.
like there wasnt anyone who needed their help.
i was almost a victim of society's cruelty.
cuz i din know what to do
besides the fact that i tried to help the other guy lift up the man.
and he was still shaky at that moment.
the woman who stopped helped to lift the bike.
and i asked, r u alright?
but i think he jux nodded cuz someone was asking him something..
and i left. cuz i saw d other guy coming towards him.
it was the peak hr. everyone was rushing home for dinner, for holland v, for their nice hot bath, for their wives and kids. yet, are these more impt than their few minutes of concern and help? what if there were 3 less ppl walking along the pavement on this day? would indifference allow that man to lie on the ground while looking up at the pale sky and praying for an answer from his object of worship?
i felt that surge of indifference too.
perhaps all of us have alrdy been consumed by our own self indulgence.
