watched GOODBYE LENIN this morning at han's place and i tot it was more comedic than it was historic. someof the parts were really amusing, like how coca cola flooded east germany and there were bright red coca cola trucks strolling continuously past the cam agst the dull grey bg.plus how the sister of the main character said, 'thank you for choosing burger king' when she landed herself in BK selling burgers after the berlin wall fell and communism collapse with the fall of gobachev. then there were the ikea posters and imported pickles from holland. basically the whole show was abt alex kerner (daniel bruhl), the son of a east germany patriot, trying to create the illusion that east germany was still standing strong after his mom fell into an 8mth coma, in which was so coincidentally, was the period when the berlin wall fell. so he was like desperately trying to find locally-produced spreewald pickles and mocca goldfix (or goldfix mocca? ) for his mom who still believed east germany still exist. thruout the show.. we see his love for his mom and we see the struggle between believing wats right and wat is easy. n somehow it reflects so much abt our daily life. to do the right thing or take the easy way out. though the show doesn't deserve an award, perhaps just a little praise. esp for its illustrations.
next movie: downfall. i miss history.
and so after the show han ning and me went over to the smu cafeteria to haf lunch. only manged to stuff a small slice of pineapple down the throat cuz my stomach was freakin bloated. the pineapple was damn strong. killed all of the bloatiness and till now im still super hungry though i just had a bowl of noodles after that. went to nj to collect our cert aft lunch. oh my. i wonder what they're planning to do to the sch. its like red, white, lime green now.. han says it looks like a poly now. but i tot it looked more like a communist sch. our uniform'll prob help piece the whole thing tog. we even suggested pasting chae's (dunno how to spell his real name. shuang help!) face on the school crest and putting up the sickle-and-axe flag. heeheeheee
supposed to collect the cert from the lib and oh man. the lib is now like half-gone. prob due to the renovation.. so we appraoched the counter and found this annoyed woman talking on the phone. she started asking us whether we were students n if the chinese characters (our names) on the cert were written by us or the MOE. it turned out that we dun rmb anything at all which got her even more frustrated. then she started explaining how she got LAWYERS, chinese and english numerology masters to change her son's name just because (according to some other numerology rubbish) it doesn't bode well. so i got curious and leaned over to 'take a look' at the chinese charaters while in fact i was looking at the results.. oh well. it was just a normal AABC. :S for once i tot by changing my name i cud get 4As. ha ha. n i wonder y she made such a big fuss. ppl can be rather amusing..
